Kigali is ready for another moment in the African basketball spotlight. From May 17 to May 25, the city will host the Nile Conference games of the Basketball Africa League Kigali 2025. The action will unfold at the BK Arena, where fans can expect fast-paced games, passionate crowds, and the best of African basketball talent.
This marks a major return for the BAL to Rwanda. Kigali has become a trusted host for big basketball moments — and this year is no exception.
The Nile Conference features four teams from across the continent, each bringing star players, fierce ambition, and something to prove.
APR Basketball Club, Rwanda’s own, enters the tournament with home-court advantage and years of national success. With a loyal fan base and experienced players like Jean Jacques Nshobozwabyosenumukiza, APR hopes to carry the nation’s hopes into the BAL playoffs.
Al Ahli Tripoli of Libya is a team with a winning tradition. Known for their disciplined defense and smart game management, they’ll be counting on veteran guard Mohamed Abdeen to lead the charge.
From Kenya comes Nairobi City Thunder, one of East Africa’s most exciting basketball clubs. Though new to the BAL, the Thunder are known for their explosive pace and sharp shooting. Young star Albert Odera will be one to watch in Kigali.
Representing Southern Africa is Morija Black Bulls (MBB) from South Africa. They’ve made waves with their energetic style and are led by Lebo Molefe, a quick and confident guard who isn’t afraid of the spotlight.
Each team will play the others twice, making every game count. The top performers will qualify for the BAL Playoffs, which will take place in Pretoria, South Africa, from June 6 to 14.
Tickets are available now through Ticqet.rw, and fans are encouraged to book early. Can’t make it to BK Arena? You can catch all the action live on ESPN Africa, Canal+, or stream it on the official BAL website.
With the Basketball Africa League returning to Rwanda, the stage is set for a week of fierce competition and unforgettable moments. For local fans, it’s more than just basketball — it’s a chance to see Kigali shine on the continental stage once again.
